DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS

As Alpha Chi, we pride ourselves in service, humility and giving back to our community. Our Alpha Chi Omega national philanthropy, the Alpha Chi Omega Foundation, raises funds to promote domestic violence awareness. Our local philanthropy in Athens is Project Safe. They provide housing assistance, an emergency shelter, a 24-hour hotline and a thrift store. Project Safe works to reduce incidents of domestic violence and increase victims’ access to safety and justice. Our part is raising money and volunteering in the thrift store. 90 cents of every dollar made at the thrift store goes to supporting client services and programs. Through sponsoring domestic violence hotlines and collecting items to benefit women and children living in local shelters, Alpha Chi Omega helps to shine a light on a problem that is often covered in secrecy. We believe in women helping women so that’s why our philanthropy is close to our hearts.

LET’S TACO BOUT IT

Let’s Taco Bout It was our fall philanthropy dinner benefiting Project Safe, a safe haven that helps women who have been affected by domestic violence. Everyone looked forward to this evening consisting of tacos, friends and so much fun. We are so grateful for everyone who came out to help support Domestic Violence Awareness.

PIZZA PIE WITH ALPHA CHI

Pizza Pie with Alpha Chi is our Spring philanthropy event to raise money for Domestic Violence Awareness and Project Safe. This spring, we held the event on the front lawn and infamous back porch. We served endless pizza and sweet treats. We gave people the opportunity to support by buying wristbands for access and T-shirts. It was a huge success and we can't wait to continue this new tradition!

LOVE SHOULD BE SWEET

Every spring Alpha Chi Omega sets up a table in the heart of campus and passes out donuts and treats to promote awareness for Healthy Relationships Week. This is one of our favorite days, especially when it falls on Valentines Day like it did this year. Along with sweets, we also pass out resources and information on healthy relationships and organizations fighting against domestic violence. This is one way we can really have our voice heard on our campus!
